What is Reiki
Reiki is a type of energy healing where the practitioner receives Universal Energy, from, (God, Goddess, Creator, or the Divine) and applies this energy through a means of touch, non-touch therapy or a combination of both. The energy is channeled through the crown chakra, down to the heart chakra and through the hands of the practitioner to the client. Reiki energy is then applied to chakra power centers, and meridians which can produce feelings of well-being and relaxation much like a meditative state. During this meditative state, healing takes place.
How Does Reiki Work
For example: Every electric appliance produces an electric field. The human body produces an electrical field from several sources in our body, the heart, nervous system, brain and our cells. The electrical field produced from the human body is the space in which we work in.
Reiki is a system of channeling Universal electromagnetic energy, which is chi, or ki. This energy is naturally found in our bodies, the environment and the Universe. Practitioners channel this energy and then bring it to the client as described above.
The electricity in our bodies is very powerful, without it we could not live. Science has determined that the system of Reiki does provide subtle healing. There are many studies which support the healing power of the system of Reiki.
Can Reiki Heal?
Reiki heals by way of electromagnetic energy (on the wavelength of infrared) which at very low levels has the capacity to heal tissues in the body. Since cells are activated, they can stimulate the immune system and hormones within the body naturally. When the body is in a state of healing on its own, Reiki can boost the natural process.
People experience; relaxation, well-being, less anxiety and depression, clear thoughts, renewed energy levels, and may also cease addictions and take better care of their bodies, emotionally and physically.
Reiki In Hospitals
I am also very happy to report hospitals have provided Reiki Master practitioners with the privilege to practice at their facilities for post-operative patients, chemotherapy patients and others recovering from procedures. Through research, Reiki energy healing has become a safe, highly recommended therapy for many of our ailments and conditions present in our modern world.
Of course this is just an introductory page on Reiki. There is much more to learn as this is a complex form of healing. To learn about becoming a Reiki practitioner, one must take Reiki 1 and 2 to begin. These classes will teach you about the system and principals of Reiki, and also how to practice Reiki for yourself and others.
I am a Master Teacher of Reiki, it took me several years to become proficient. Classes over the internet or 3 day seminars are introductory and should not be a replacement for in depth Reiki training as the study materials for Reiki 1 and 2 training are minimal.
To become proficient, one must practice Reiki often, at first on as many clients as possible. You may wonder how it would be possible to gain clients with little experience. This is why in depth classes are important. The more you learn, the more information, practice and confidence you will have. I practiced with my instructor at Reiki Clinics. This is a great way to get in some practice time and to accompany your instructor and learn through them.
If you would like to learn about Reiki and become a practitioner, I will be holding classes in the near future. Contact me through my email, and visit this website often to find out about events and classes.
